Creating a digital prototype

To summarise the idea again, I wanted to demonstrate the process of a bot/machine trying to learn about itself. The bot would scrape research papers about AI and make connections across them by matching shared keywords present in titles.

In the meantime, I found a project where the concept of association is similarly explored.

In this interactive installation, the artist scrapes Wikileaks’ database and constructs love stories by linking emails sent between people.

In order to begin making a proof-in-concept of my final idea, I decided I would spend time trying to make the digital version of this project first (as mentioned in the last blog) and then attempt a physical version. This was for multiple reasons:

  • I could show a virtual simulation of what the final product looks like
  • In the worst-case scenario, if the physical interpretation takes too much time or generates too many problems, I have a digital product to submit and showcase
  • The digital idea can easily be accessed and distributed amongst people
